July 2010 - New LED Downlights and New Regulations

GS Lighting has a well established partnership with Collingwood Lighting for it's wide range of LED lighting. Now alongside this partnership is Halers Lighting, which has a new EvoLED range of LED downlights.

Domestic regulations (part L1) will change in October to requiring 75% of lighting to meet 45 lamp lumens/circW with a minimum lumen output of 400 lumens. The figure is calculated without the LOR (light Output Ratio of the fitting) applied. All of the new LED downlight products meet this requirement, and when combined with the IP65 rating of the EvoLED™, make fitting the LEDs in kitchens and bathrooms a simple and effective way of achieving both the new regulations and CIBSE guidelines.

Non-Domestic regulations (part L2) will change in October to requiring the average of all general lighting (not display lighting) to achieve 55 luminaire lumens/circW. The new regulations also permit this average to be achieved through a combination of efficient sources and control systems, particularly daylight linking and occupancy sensors.

As the luminous efficacy of LED light reduces significantly with increasing temperature, it is important for efficiency and lifetime to maintain a low operating temperature. This is achieved by having a highly efficient thermal path from the LEDs to the heatsink. Halers heatsinking technology is part of an advanced thermal management solution enabling their products to maintain the optimum junction temperature for long life, efficiency and output. Halers Lighting will continue to enhance the performance of its products and will ensure all its product comply with Part L regulations.

GS Lighting is pleased to add the Halers EvoLEd range of downlights to it's portfolio of products.
